One Line Summary

Honest, sassy and oh-so relatable!

Book Summary

Ever felt bad about yourself?

If the answer is yes, then this book is about to become your best friend.

The ‘Bad’ Girls Guide to Better is the best friend we all need.

As Casey puts it in the very first chapter:

“This book is about helping you make peace with the parts of yourself you would prefer the world didn’t see – the bit’s that make you terrified you’ll be ‘found out’.

Writing Style & Design

In The ‘Bad’ Girls Guide to Better, Casey Beros tackles topics that most self help books cover such as finances, professional success, anxiety & depression, eating disorders, alcohol, drugs and sexual abuse, relationships and confrontation.

What makes this book different from all the other self help books you will pick up, is its HONESTY. Casey shares details of her own life including raw honestly about her own mistakes, failures, regrets and less-than-ideal choices. This book is a winner because it is relatable and doesn’t have the ‘preachy’ vibes that a lot of other self help books have.

Also, she’s a fantastic writer. This book will have you laughing out loud one minute and crying the next.

What I Learnt from this Book:

  1. No one knows what the f*** they are doing
  2. Understand what success means for you so you know what you are aiming for
  3. Life is a sh*tload easier when you have your own back

Who Should Read ‘The Bad Girl’s Guide to Better’?

Anyone who has every regretted or felt bad about themselves.

This book is primarily targeting women but is so relatable that I would argue anyone could (and should) read it.

Quotes & Excerpts

This book is relatable:

“Half of me wants to hustle and build an amazing life and the other half just wants to binge watch other people living theirs”

It is honest and wise:

“Success is not linear, and champagne moments are few and far between. Sometimes the most powerful lessons come from the lows, so learn to love the grind.”

And it gives you perspective:

“One day I will get to the end of my life. And you will get to the end of yours. You don’t need me to tell you that when that day comes you’re going to give precisely zero fucks about how many followers you have on the ‘Gram, how many pairs of shoes you own or how many dollars you have in the bank…All you will see is how – and how – you loved.”
